The Forces Additional Needs and Disability Forum


The Forces Additional Needs and Disability Forum (FANDF) is a tri-Service group for Serving personnel, reservists and their families who have a child or adult immediate family member with an additional need and/or disability.

The FANDF is a unique group as it is run by a committee of members whose vision is the ensure that all ‘Forces families with additional needs and disabilities receive the support they need’.

FANDF Vision

To ensure all Forces families with additional needs and disabilities receive the support they need.

FANDF Mission

  • To give a voice to Forces families with additional needs and disabilities.
  • To help influence and develop positive attitudes towards families and individuals with additional needs and disability.
  • To ensure policy and decision makers understand the needs of Forces families, who have additional needs and disabilities

 

FANDF Values

  • We are experienced and genuine. The FANDF consists of Forces families who have an immediate family member with an additional need or disability. They have understanding, lived experience and knowledge of the challenges we face.
  • We listen to and understand the challenges Forces families with additional needs and disabilities face with compassion.
  • We offer help identifying and accessing the support that is available for these families.
  • We are knowledgeable and committed.
  • We collect evidence to understand the current experiences and requirements of Forces families with additional needs and disabilities.
  • We use evidence to help inform our discussions with policy and decision makers.
  • We are passionate about helping Forces families with additional needs and disabilities. If we can make life easier for one family, it has been worth it.

 

FANDF Membership

Membership of the FANDF shall be open to regular and reserve serving personnel and their immediate family member who:

  • Themselves have additional needs and/or disability.
  • Have a child or young person who has additional needs and/or disability.
  • Have a partner or spouse who has additional needs and/or disability.
  • Have a child/children who have additional needs and/or disability who are aged 18 years or over and are normally resident in the family home owing to their additional need and/or disability

 

Forum members will receive useful information on topics of interest via email and our e-Newsletter. There is also an opportunity to meet the FANDF committee and other members at our biennial conference and other FANDF events.
