Veterans in Europe

British veterans and their families are required to make certain adjustments now that Britain has left the European Union.

Now that the United Kingdom has left the European Union, UK nationals already living in EU member states need to take action to register as residents, so that they can continue to live and work in their chosen country.

SSAFA, along with several other partners, were previously working alongside the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to deliver the UK National Support Fund (UKNSF) to assist veteran UK nationals who reside in countries across Europe.

The FCDO’s UKNSF is still in operation to support those currently residing in certain countries across Europe. However, SSAFA are no longer providing active support with residency applications, as UKNSF support has ended in the countries we were working in.

Therefore, if you still require support with your residency, please refer to the relevant ‘Living in Guide’ for your country: search for the relevant country of residence here.

Further details of the Fund can be found in the FCDO press release of 6 March 2020.

If you are a veteran living in Europe and have any requirements for support outside of your residency, please find available support through SSAFA here.
