A Symphonic Celebration set to delight audiences
30 November 2023
March 2024 showcases a spectacular concert featuring the Band of the Household Cavalry together with the Aylesbury Concert Band. Tickets – available now – for this one-off Springtime event will sell fast, and they make an ideal Christmas present.
A Symphonic Celebration on Mothering Sunday (March 10, 2024), at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, will feature more than 80 musicians, drawn from the prestigious Band of the Household Cavalry and members of the Aylesbury Concert Band.
The concert is in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, with all proceeds going to support the work of these military charities.
Wearing full ceremonial uniform, the State Trumpeters from the Band of the Household Cavalry will take centre stage for the début of the stunning finale of Carolean Jubilate, which was written especially for this concert.
The piece was commissioned by SSAFA and composed by Lieutenant Colonel Craig Hallatt, Principal Director of Music (Army), to celebrate The Coronation of King Charles III. It has been recorded and was released earlier this month on The Royal Corps of Army Music Trust website. You can hear the music on this page.
Conducting A Symphonic Celebration will be Major Craig Bywater (Director of Music, the Band of the Household Cavalry) and Brendan Gudgeon (Musical Director, Aylesbury Concert Band). The finale will be conducted by Lt Col Hallatt.
This promises to be a spectacular concert for all the family to enjoy, and a rare opportunity to see the Band of the Household Cavalry away from its state ceremonial and mounted duties in central London.
Maj Bywater describes A Symphonic Celebration as: “… an exciting symphonic wind band concert combining The Band of the Household Cavalry and the Aylesbury Concert Band”, adding: “We’re really looking forward to showcasing new symphonic wind band music, some composed especially for this concert, as well as some more well-known repertoire. We’re also very excited to be joined by the Aylesbury Concert Band for a wonderful afternoon of music.”
