‘Already a winner’: charity award shortlisting for 2024 SSAFA partner Vistry
03 April 2025
Vistry Group, which raised more than £700,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in 2024, has been shortlisted in the Business Charity Awards 2025.
Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of affordable mixed-tenure homes, set a target of £300,000, but the dedication, enthusiasm, and innovativeness of its employees saw the total rise beyond expectation.
The housebuilder, which has been awarded Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and is a proud Armed Forces Covenant signatory, has many veterans and reservists working within the business, and partners with organisations to support service leavers into the construction industry.
Vistry employees based in offices and sites from across the country led the fundraising activities with marathons, gala dinners, treks, cycling challenges and skydives taking place in the UK and abroad. The company joined together for the Tri-Force Trials, a set of challenges set for colleagues to take on based around air, land, and water.
Lizzie Rossiter, SSAFA’s Commercial and Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “I’m speaking on behalf of everyone at SSAFA when I say we’re thrilled that Vistry has been shortlisted in the Property and Construction category of the Business Charity Awards.
“We thought its target of £300,000 was ambitious, but ultimately, the results were extraordinary. The partnership shattered expectations, raising an astounding £727,617 and alongside an additional £194,084.89 in social investment for SSAFA projects, Vistry’s total contribution to an incredible £921,700, a staggering 300% over target.”
Lizzie explained that the impact extended far beyond fundraising, adding: “Vistry’s efforts strengthened SSAFA’s community outreach, created touchpoints for employment opportunities for hundreds of veterans, and recruited 12 new service volunteers to provide critical, frontline support. The partnership expanded Vistry’s Armed Forces Network, welcoming 40 new members, and securing gold revalidation with the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
“We wish Vistry the very best of luck in the awards, but to SSAFA, the company is already the winner.”
The awards ceremony will take place at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on, aptly, May 8, 2025 – the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
