SSAFA was honoured to be given a cheque for £10,000 by the Rotary Club of Bath at a presentation hosted recently by the Lansdown Golf Club.
SSAFA South West Regional Chair, Tony Singer received the cheque from Allan Gait, Rotary Club Bath Chair.
Allan said: “Our Rotary Club was delighted to be able to make a substantial donation from our charitable fireworks display to support the work of SSAFA in Bath and north-east Somerset. We wanted to show our support for those who serve our country, and we have been really impressed by the individualised assistance which SSAFA gives to those in need from a services background.”
The South West region has seen a recent increase in requests for assistance, with the average need becoming more complex, time consuming and costly. SSAFA relies on donations to run its world-wide support, which relies on a network of fully trained and experienced volunteers.
Tony said: “This tremendously generous donation will mean we can expand and reinforce our activities across BANES, supporting active and former service people and their families with specialised help.”
SSAFA operates in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland as well as overseas, supporting tens of thousands of people from within the Armed Forces family: Regular and Reserves, serving or retired, and their families, annually.
