SSAFA welcomes Laura Wright as Ambassador for Military Wives Choirs

16 September 2021

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is delighted to welcome mezzo-soprano Laura Wright as Ambassador for the Military Wives Choirs.

Already well-known to Military Wives Choirs and its audiences through her contribution of the song Brave for the album Remember in 2018, Laura has supported the charity since then and is no stranger to the military world.

Winner – aged just 15 – of the 2005 BBC Young Chorister of the Year, she has gone on to write and record numerous albums and perform at many high-profile events, including Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday and at the Invictus Games.

Commenting on her appointment, Laura said: “I am thoroughly delighted to become an Ambassador and to continue my work with this wonderfully supportive organisation.”

Sir Andrew Gregory, Controller of SSAFA, welcomed her, saying: “This is superb news for the Military Wives Choirs, the women who sing in them, and the whole Forces’ community.

“Laura is not only a great soprano, but also a talented composer and has demonstrated her exceptional ability to capture the mood of an audience at major sporting and charity events.

“These talents and strengths will help her excel in her role as Ambassador, while bring her and the excellent work of the Military Wives Choirs to new audiences.”
