VE Day 75 Concert and Cinema screenings postponed

01 April 2020

We are sorry to announce that VE Day 75 Concert with The Daily Mail has been rescheduled for Sunday 20 September 2020.

  • Due to the Government’s Coronavirus restrictions, the Royal Albert Hall and UK cinemas will be closed on Bank Holiday Friday 8 May, the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

  • Tickets already purchased for the Royal Albert Hall will be valid for the new date.

  • The Royal Albert Hall will contact all patrons with details of how to request a refund if they cannot make the new date.

  • Cinema tickets will be back on sale in due course via local cinemas. Ticket holders should contact their local cinema box office directly to confirm it is screening this event on the new date or to receive a refund.

The difficult circumstances forced on us all by COVID-19 highlight the manner in which people step forward to serve this Nation at times of crisis. Today’s frontline is manned by doctors, nurses and care workers supported by key workers and, as always, the men and women in our Armed Forces.

In postponing the events planned for 8 May, it will give us the opportunity to celebrate the service of men and women both in 1945 and in 2020. I, and all in SSAFA, wish everybody good health and strength; SSAFA is proud to be able to continue to support the Armed Forces community during this emergency, particularly as it will help relieve some of the pressure on the NHS.

- Sir Andrew Gregory, Controller, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity
