SMS Messages and Giving Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions we use when sending SMS communications.

General Terms and Conditions

When you donate via SMS to SSAFA, please note that in addition to the donation, you will incur your standard network message charge, based on your service provider rates.

SSAFA will receive 100 percent of each donation.

Please ensure you spell the keyword carefully and send your text message to the correct short code or your gift may not be received.

If your keyword and short code are valid, you will be charged the donation amount when you receive the bounce-back message – this cost will be applied directly to your mobile phone bill. It may take some time for you to receive a bounce-back message. Please wait until you receive it. Any repeat texts will result in repeat donations.

If your keyword or short code are invalid, you may not receive a bounce-back but may still be charged your standard network message charge. You will not be charged the donation as you will not be donating to SSAFA.

There is no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text but there is a daily limit of £30 on text donations. You will not be able to donate more by text from the same number on the same day, but you may still incur your standard network message charge if you try.

All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent's or guardian's permission to send a text donation to us.

Please note that you can donate from a UK mobile only. You cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands, Isle of Man or other non-UK mobile. If you donate using this service from a UK mobile outside England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges.

If you would like to contribute additional gifts to SSAFA, you can donate online.

All donations to SSAFA, including the donation from the text, are non-refundable.

SSAFA and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text being lost or not properly received.

SSAFA is a registered charity in England and Wales (210760), Scotland (SC038056) and the Republic of Ireland (20202001).

Donations will help to support the whole of SSAFA’s work.

Regular Giving via SMS

What happens when you text the keyword and short code?

Text THANKS to 70020 to give a £3 per month directly from your mobile.

This is a monthly charity donation service where you receive a free text message the day before your gift is due. If you are happy to give, you don't need to do anything and your £3 donation will come off your mobile phone bill for that month or your pay-as-you-go credit.

If you would prefer not to give that month, text SKIP to 70020 within 24 hours of receiving the text. We’ll send you a text back to confirm that we won’t take your £3 payment that month.

We hope that you won't cancel your gift and that you will use the SKIP system if you decide not to give in a particular month. You can, however, stop your subscription at any time by texting STOP to 70020. We’ll send you a confirmation text to let you know it’s been done.

SSAFA will receive 100 percent of each donation.

This SMS service is being provided for SSAFA by Cymba Integrated Solutions of 36 Gloucester Avenue, London NW1 7BB.

See our general terms and conditions above relating to all text to donate campaigns.

Donations made via text are eligible for Gift Aid. In order for us to reclaim the tax you have already paid on your gifts and make them worth 25 per cent more, at no cost to you, you can complete the Gift Aid form online or call us on 020 7403 8783 or email supporter@ssafa.org.uk

Updating your SMS Communication Preferences

Our charity text donation service enables you to donate and receive information about how you are helping to support our Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

We value your support and understand that you may wish to update your contact preferences. We will occasionally send you information about how you are helping to change lives via text message. You might also receive videos and other useful content that you can view on an internet-enabled phone or on your computer. We won’t charge you for this content, but, as with any mobile browsing, viewing it might mean you incur charges from your network provider. We may call you on your mobile with news about how your support is helping those in need.

If you'd rather we didn't telephone you on your mobile, you can text NOCALL SSAFA to 78866, or contact us on 020 7403 8783 or by email to supporter@ssafa.org.uk

To opt out of receiving SMS messages from us in the future, please text NOSMS SSAFA to 78866 or telephone us 020 7403 8783 or email to supporter@ssafa.org.uk.
