Service Committee Volunteering

Join us and help Armed Forces personnel and their families.

Our Service Committees support serving personnel and their immediate families. We have committees at military bases across the UK and overseas.

There are eight Service Committee roles, though not all will be available in your area.

Please note that these roles are only available to volunteers who can demonstrate an understanding and awareness of current Service life.

Committee Chair

Organise and lead the SSAFA presence on your local military base as Service Committee Chair, and report in to the Chair of the board of Trustees.

Community Connection Champion

Develop social groups and facilitate community activities within the local serving community.

Publicity Coordinator

Raise your SSAFA Service Committee's profile, helping us reach new clients, raise more funds and gain new support.

Committee Secretary

Support your local Service Committee as Secretary, helping organise your fellow volunteers and maintain crucial records.

Committee Treasurer

Help your local Service Committee manage, record and review their accounts and payments.

Fundraiser

As part of a local team on base, our fundraisers represent and collect for SSAFA at events such as exhibitions, fayres, street collections, quizzes, raffles or sporting events.

Fundraising Coordinator

Fundraising Coordinators are responsible for working with your Service Committee to build and deliver a fundraising plan, including liaising with other local agencies.

Community Volunteer

Become part of the front-line in providing SSAFA's welfare, guidance and support services to personnel on your local base.
