Boeing is a leading global aerospace company who develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defence products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. They have partnered with the UK since before the Second World War. Over the course of a relationship that spans more than 80 years, they have grown to a highly skilled workforce of over 4,000 people across 30 key locations.
Boeing have been a Corporate Partner of SSAFA since 2015, and in that time have donated £445,000. In 2023, Boeing awarded £10.7M across 110 grants donated in support of veterans programs, worldwide, and SSAFA were thrilled to be named as one of the benefitting charities.
Thanks to this funding, the Boeing Crisis fund was established and is successfully managed by SSAFA’s Grants team. The Boeing Crisis Fund provides support towards crisis and urgent routine cases by dispersing funds quickly, to make crucial, often life changing interventions. Immediate needs include food or electric vouchers, essential clothing, replacement of critical white or brown goods and funding to cover rent arrears or emergency accommodation to stop someone becoming homeless.
Boeing also financially support our Transitional Mentoring Programme too. This unique, tailored service pairs a service leaver with a dedicated, trained volunteer mentor for up to one year, helping with the transition to rebuild self-confidence and resilience to settle into civilian life. SSAFA have gratefully received an annual grant of £73,000 from Boeing since 2019, which ensures that we have the funds available to continue to support the armed forces, veterans and their families in their most desperate time of need.
Not only that, but Boeing employees also support SSAFA through volunteering and fundraising initiatives. With over 4,000 employees across the UK and many of those part of their ex-forces network - BRAVO – the impact of the partnership is huge.
